What is an E-Journal?
Electronic Journals (or E-Journals) are versions of print journals that are available online
or periodicals distributed through the internet. While there are a number of commercial
journals that require subscriptions, those listed below are free.
- The American Journal of Psychiatry
is a monthly publication for "psychiatrists and other mental health professionals
who need to keep up-to-date with all aspects of psychiatry. Peer-reviewed articles
focus on developments in biological psychiatry as well as on treatment innovations
and forensic, ethical, economic, and social topics."
- Archives of General Psychiatry
"strives to publish original, state-of-the-art studies and commentaries of general
interest to clinicians, scholars, and research scientists in psychiatry, mental
health, behavioral science, and allied fields."
- The German Journal of Psychiatry
"is a new journal that is published on the Internet and covers all fields of
psychiatry... All articles are published in English."
- Journal of Psychiatry & Neuroscience
"publishes original research articles and review papers in clinical psychiatry
(adult and child) and neuroscience that relate to major psychiatric disorders,
particularly schizophrenia, affective disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases."
- The
National Technical Assistance Center's (NTAC) Networks newsletter has articles of
interest to mental health professionals, highlights exemplary state programs,
and provides updates on recent NTAC activities.
- Psychiatric Times
is a monthly publication covering areas of interest to psychiatry and includes
columns, clinical news, special reports, and CME opportunities. Site features a
searchable archive of past issues.
