Title: Reframing the Confidentiality Dilemma to Work in Children's Best Interests

Description: This article addresses the dilemmas that arise in working with minors due to limits on keeping information private and because confidentiality can limit helping. The authors state that it is necessary to go beyond minimally meeting reporting requirements or deciding when it is in the client's best interests to breach confidences. Specifically, they suggest that the focus should be on how to empower clients to take the lead in sharing information when this is indicated and how to minimize negative consequences that may result from such sharing. Keywords: confidentiality, privacy, information sharing, minors
